Charities Kalina Supports

I support causes that mean a great deal to me personally. Each year I donate money to charities or organizations that include the ones below. I also volunteer my time and counsel for a few of these organizations. Your donations to any of these charities helps increase awareness and may improve the lives of those who are less fortunate than ourselves.

Philly Pride
I show my support for the LGBT community by walking in the Philly Pride Parade every year with my group, ASIAC. I welcome you to join us as we march down the main streets of Philadelphia to the festival pier where you will find people of all ages, races, and genders all in one spot! Philadelphia really is a beautiful city for the LGBT community.

American Cancer Society
I contribute to the American Cancer Society because I am a Stage 2 cancer survivor. Being told you have a 45% chance of living after 5 years can take a toll on you and instead of rolling up into a ball of self-pity, I decided to learn all I could about the disease. The American Cancer Society helps cancer victims like me and their loved ones understand the disease, what the treatment options are, and what could be done to live a happier, healthier life.

ASIAC
ASIAC is a non-profit community-based organization dedicated to assisting low-income and limited English proficient individuals overcome cultural and linguistic barriers to healthcare and social services. These guys create fantabulous fundraisers every year that are a lot of fun and help support their cause. I served on their Board of Directors some years ago.

Toys for Tots
I give a toy to the Toys for Tots annual toy drive campaign to help a needy child experience the joy of Christmas. You do the same and you'll be helping make a little kid's day.

William Way Community Center
I love the William Way Community Center because it's a great "neutral ground" for meeting new people or groups. With the recent generous donations, "Way Gay University" courses are now offered and taught by professionals in their fields.

In past years, I supported Asian Arts Initiative, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, and Women's Way.
